....yeah it's sad but I disliked the music in this Leonard Bernstein piece. /facepalm

The singing was in fact fairly good, but there weren't enough songs to begin with (a lot of faux-ballet dancing which...while pretty, wouldn't make you think of anything remotely related to Bolshoi), and I just couldn't get into the tunes at all. Two exceptions: "Carried Away" and "I Understand." The staging for the former was especially splashing. But everything else was just....meh.

And the story wasn't that great either. I mean...I like comedy. I can even like comedy with no depth—I mean, I quite enjoyed How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying & Bullets over Broadway. But comedy with no characterization is just...yeah, that meh word again. Sure there were laughs here and there (often from the ensemble), but as a whole the story didn't make me care about the characters at all. (Compare this to Bullets over Broadway, when the audience cheered as a character got murdered.)

With all these said, somehow the rest of the audience was really enthusiastic so...I dunno. Still the thing with Leonard Bernstein? /cue facepalm again

总结:故事3星,制作3.5星,音乐2.5星,唱功4星,演技3.5星。
